bullet

A player, from a team with only seven players, leaves the field of play to receive medical attention. The injury to this player was caused by a tackle from behind by an opponent.

bullet

The offense occurred in the opponents' penalty area and was penalized by the awarding of a penalty kick.  The opponent was sent off and shown the red card by the referee.

bullet

Should the referee allow the penalty kick to be executed? What is the procedure?

bullet

Please note the new 2002 change to Law 5 that states "an injured player may only return to the field of play after the match has restarted".

bullet

Allow the penalty kick to be taken.

bullet

Play continues to allow the injured player to return after treatment, but if he fails to return within a reasonable amount of time, then the match would be abandoned since the team fell below the required minimum number of players (7).

bullet

A complete written report of the incident must be filed with the proper authorities by the referee.
