Welcome

The following steps are necessary to become part of PSOA

  1. Submit a PSOA Application.
    * Most of our members also belong to USSF or NISOA, but that is not a requirement. You should have 3 to 5 years of experience as a soccer  official and should feel comfortable doing centers in games up to U19.  Your sponsor (identified on your application) will be contacted for his/her recommendation.
    * All PSOA members MUST have an email address and internet access. Outside of mandatory meeting attendance, this is the primary way we communicate.  Meeting notices, game assignments, game reports, etc. are all handled electronically.

  2. Register with Florida High School Athletic Assoc (FHSAA).
    * Select PSOA as your association and select an exam site. The most common exam site for Pinellas residents is at Northeast High School.

  3. Once you are registered with FHSAA, you will need a User ID and password to access the Member's Only section of the PSOA web site.
    * Do not confuse this with registering with FHSAA.  PSOA is a different web site with different registration processes.
    * For access to the PSOA Members Only section of our web, send an email to webmaster@psoa-soccer.org with your request. It is important that you send this email from the email address you will use for PSOA business. You will be notified by return email when your access is activated.

  4. Attend the FHSAA Rules clinic - either online or at a PSOA meeting.

  5. Take the FHSAA officials exam at your selected exam site.

  6. Your score will be sent to the President of PSOA and published in the members' section of this web. Note that FHSAA rules require you to have a passing exam score BEFORE you may be assigned to officiate any match.

After you are fully registered

  1. You will be assigned to matches based upon your ability as verified by on-field assessments.  With some exceptions, new members will predominantly be assigned as AR to familiarize them with unique pre and post-game procedures required by PSOA, FHSAA, and/or Pinellas County.

  2. Log-into the PSOA Members Only section of the web at least weekly during the season (August thru April) to get updates (What's New), check game assignments, review minutes and others areas of importance.

  3. Check your email weekly - year around. That's how you'll get your updates on registration dates and procedures, changes in FHSAA or PSOA policies, etc.

  4. Attend all meetings and associated training / refresher sessions.

  5. Communicate with your crew before games, have the necessary equipment, be on-time, be mentally prepared, submit accurate and timely reports and be professional.

  6. Make and keep your commitments to PSOA, FHSAA, the teams (players, coaches and administration) and the GAME!

See you at the meetings and on the Pitch!
